Kyle Barnhart

Kyle Barnhart became part of the Siegmund Excavation team as a general construction administrative assistant in March of 2020. Kyle joined the United States Marine Corp immediately after graduating high school. He spent the next few years as an Engineer Equipment Operator. Upon completing his military service, Kyle worked briefly as a dispatcher for a ready-mix company, and later as a heavy equipment rental coordinator.

Kyle says growing up in the Santiam Canyon, he always saw Siegmund trucks on the road and thought they were “the biggest badasses around”. Later, when he was assigned Siegmund’s equipment rental account, Kyle developed a positive relationship with the company. Later, when the idea of interviewing for the admin assistant position was pitched, Kyle felt it was a great move for his career.

As a teen, Kyle was on the football, wrestling and golf teams at his high school, but his passion was enjoying outdoor activities such as snowboarding, golfing, paintballing and fishing. These days, Kyle looks forward to spending time and creating memories with his wife and kids. “Every day is a new adventure!”

Dylan Gottfried came to Siegmund Excavation in 2019 after a lengthy career in the lumber industry. He did a variety of jobs at a local, Santiam Canyon area mill for several years before switching to a shipping & receiving position at a company in Woodburn. There, he loaded and unloaded trucks, honing his skills as a forklift operator. This experience sparked an interest in learning to operate other types of equipment. Dylan was born and raised  in Stayton, and was familiar with Siegmund Excavation and the Seigmund family. At the advice of a good friend, he submitted an application. Dylan says he got a great vibe from his interview, even though he “had a mountain of knowledge to absorb, with minimal knowledge of the job to be. He started with learning the ropes on the road building crew, moving temporarily to the crushing crew in February of 2021. Currently he is learning the ins and outs of operating brusher.

Dylan grew up playing baseball, and doing everything that a country boy does as a kid, including hunting, fishing, and camping. He also spent several years in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Dylan now has three kids of his own who also love to go camping and do outdoor stuff with their dad as often as they can.

Daren Dahl

Daren Dahl came to Siegmund Excavation & Construction in early 2019. He had been doing rock blasting for a local drilling company, but says he’d always heard good things about Siegmund, so he decided to submit an application. His first week here, Daren was assigned to help out in the shop yard, with the intention of him moving on to work with the excavation crews. However, once the Siegmund mechanics got the opportunity to have Daren on their team, they didn’t want to let him go. He’s been turning wrenches both in the shop and out in the field ever since.

Growing up, Daren spent his free time hunting and going to the dunes with his family. He also always enjoyed having project vehicles to work on and sell. These days, when Daren isn’t working, he can be found hanging out with his family, hunting, going on snow trips.

Cash Siegmund

Cash Siegmund joined the Siegmund Excavation & Construction team in the fall of 2017. Since then, Cash has become an integral part of the company; overseeing new construction, increasing security measures, and even organizing crew activities and team building exercises. While he occasionally works in the office when necessary, Cash prefers to be out on the front lines, taking part in the action. He can quite often be found assisting the mechanics in the shop yard, a position in which he excels.

Cash was raised just outside of Stayton, Oregon. Growing up in the construction industry, it was apparent from a young age that he would follow the same path as his dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and uncle. When he’s not at work, Cash enjoys exploring the fields and woods around his house, playing catch and frisbee with his friends, and wrestling with his older brother.

Pete Weatherly

Pete Weatherly joined the Siegmund Excavation team in November of 2018. For the first ten years of his working career, Pete was employed by his dad. When the company went out of business, Pete was fortunate to be able to be a stay-at-home dad to his young son. Once his son was old enough to go to school, Pete got his CDL and got a job driving over the road. He spent a little over two years exploring the lower 48 states, until a family member passed away and he felt the need to return home permanently. He found local work with a local construction company, where he worked for a few years. Pete says he chose a career with Siegmund Excavation because it would provide him with better opportunities.

Growing up, Pete was definitely a jock. He played baseball, basketball, and soccer. But football was his favorite sport, especially since his team went undefeated one year. Nowadays Pete loves spending time with his family. Together the family enjoys swimming, camping, and hiking.

David Gibbs

David Gibbs started working in the construction field right out of high school. Five years later, he moved to Alaska for a job in logging, staying there for about two years before returning to the construction field. In 2005, with a baby girl on the way, Dave decided to take a job driving truck closer to home. In 2009, the full-time he went to work for another local company, also driving log truck and operating equipment when needed. Dave joined the Siegmund Excavation & Construction team in 2018.

Dave loves to hunt and fish with his family in his spare time.

In his role as Superintendent, Ace oversees all aspects of the day to day operations, splitting his time between inspecting job sites, assisting in the shop yard, and supervising the daily workflow in the office. He’s also taken an active mentorship role, helping new crew members find their niche in the company and encouraging team building.

Ace grew up on the outskirts of Stayton. He began learning about the construction business at a very early age, often traveling around visiting job sites with his dad. When he’s not working, Ace enjoys jogging in the woods, taking quick dips in the pond, and just relaxing in the grass. In the summer, he can be found swimming and boating at Detroit Lake, and going on long walks with his family.

Zack Carter

Zack Carter started his career with Siegmund Excavation & Construction in 2018 as a dump truck driver and backup lowboy driver. A short time later, Zack took over as primary lowboy driver, hauling equipment throughout Oregon for Siegmund, our sister company Allied Rock, and our customers. Prior to joining the Siegmund team, Zack worked for a local beverage service company. After 7 ½ years with the company, he was looking for something different. A friend mentioned that he enjoyed working for Siegmund, so Zack thought he’d give it a try. The bonus being that he knew he’d like working in the woods.

When he’s not working, Zack enjoys being outdoors, fishing, hiking, camping and off-roading.

Louis Siegmund

Louis Siegmund grew up in the Stayton area. He worked on the family farm and timber ground throughout his childhood, eventually helping his dad, Ralph in his repair shop and out on jobs. Lou attended both elementary and high school in Stayton. He wasn’t much into playing sports in school.

He gave football a shot, but realized he was just too small. Instead he devoted his time to student government and the debate team. When he wasn’t in school or working, Lou enjoyed hiking and camping in the mountains, hunting, and water skiing during the summer.

Lou attended Oregon State University, where he graduated with a BS in Business Administration and a Commission in the United States Air Force. Seventeen days later, he was at Air Transport Training School in Texas. He was then stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, with some temporary assignments in North and East Africa, as well as several areas of the Middle East. He spent the end of his term based in California, and was honorably discharged as a Captain in 1969.

After leaving the Air Force, Lou returned to his home town of Stayton and began working with Ralph in his logging & construction business. He also married the love of his life, Jill in 1969, and the couple began building their home in 1972. (They’ve been working on it ever since!)

Lou started Siegmund Excavation & Construction in 1974 as a companion to his dad’s company, Siegmund Logging. The pair worked together for several years until Ralph started to slow his business down in the early 80s. At that time, Lou began expanding his own business; building roads and clearing land for agriculture. Lou’s sons, Andrew and Alan began working for him in the 90s. Andrew eventually took over primary operations of Siegmund Excavation in the late 90s, with Lou continuing as a vital part of the day to day success of the company.

These days, when he’s not working, Lou enjoys spending time with his wife Jill doing home improvement projects and landscaping around their house. The couple is very involved with their church, and they also love spending time with their family.

Alan Siegmund

Operations Manager Alan Siegmund has been with Siegmund Excavation & Construction for the past 20 years…this time around. Alan practically grew up in the business though, working after school and during the summer for his dad, not only doing construction, but also farming and logging. Later, he spent a couple of years working for a directional drilling company out of Silverton, primarily on jobs in Washington state. When the opportunity came to work with his dad and brother Andrew again, Alan returned to the family business. His only stipulation was that when it came time to get a new company pickup, he got to choose the make and model!

As a kid, Alan enjoyed playing soccer. He also has great memories of taking trips to Disneyland and to the Oregon Coast with his family. Nowadays Alan loves spending time with friends and with his wife and their two boys. When he’s not working, Alan can be found riding dirt bikes and taking trips with his family, working around the house, building dirt bike trails with his boys, watching the boys play sports, watching NASCAR, bird hunting, and BBQing.
