Matt Wilson is a relatively new face around the Siegmund shop yard, having joined the team in 2018. He came to Siegmund Excavation looking for a position in which he could build on his mechanical knowledge. Matt’s background is predominately in sales and customer service, having worked as a salesman at two different auto dealerships in Albany, but he also spent ten years running the Albany and Corvallis Battery X-Change stores. There, he performed battery, alternator, starter, and related accessory installations on cars, trucks, RVs, and golf carts. He worked as an assistant manager at Car Quest in Stayton, before coming to work for Siegmund.
Matt grew up in Scio and attended school there from kindergarten to graduation in May of 1996. He enjoyed playing football and basketball throughout his school years, and was also involved in the ski club in high school. He attended Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma for one year after high school. Growing up, Matt’s family took many trips to the coast and to the mountains to ski. Matt spent a lot of time fishing with his father and brothers, mostly for trout on the Santiam River above Detroit.
Nowadays he stays very busy with his family. Matt and his wife, Amber have a blended family of five kids, ranging in age from 4 to 21. He still enjoys fishing with his dad and brothers, and has shared his love of fishing with his wife and kids. Matt says “I love to fish for trout, salmon and steelhead, and my favorite, sturgeon. Nothing better than getting your arms tugged off by some sturgeon!” When he’s not working (or fishing!), Matt can be found hanging out with his family and friends, doing yard work, or spending time in the hills.
