Chad Fery, a member of the team since June of 2001, recently accepted the new position of Transportation Manager for Siegmund Excavation & Construction.
Chad grew up on his family’s farm in Scio, where he learned to drive tractor and move irrigation during the summers. He played soccer in grade school and basketball in middle school. He also enjoyed riding 3-wheelers, 4-wheelers, and dirt bikes around the farm, as well as fishing, crabbing, and boating when the farm chores were done. In high school, Chad was involved in the Scio FFA, winning 2nd place at the tractor driving competition at the State Fair two years in a row. Chad also assisted with the installation of networking computers and wiring in the High School and Middle School buildings and was student administrator of the computer network.
After graduation, Chad worked at the Linn County Road Department shop in Scio, before heading to Klamath Falls to attend OIT for one year. There he majored in Computer Engineering. Following OIT, Chad worked at Doerfler Farms, operating a combine during harvest, running tractor, doing equipment maintenance, and spraying fields. He was eventually promoted to crew boss with his own crew of combines the following summer. In 2001, Chad’s brother David, who was already working for Siegmund, asked if Chad was interested in joining the crew. Chad started out as an equipment operator. Within a month of working for Siegmund he had gotten his CDL and began driving dump truck. He bounced between operating equipment and driving dump truck for several years. In 2008, he began hauling equipment, eventually becoming the lead loboy driver, until his promotion to Transportation Manager in March of 2018.
Chad spends his free time with his wife, Cadie, watching their son play sports and playing with their young daughter. He also has a lot of home improvement projects to keep him busy.
